As both Owner and Creative Director of Anthony DeFranco Salon and Spa, Anthony DeFranco’s editorial work has been featured in major motion picture films, television shows, and numerous fashion magazines such as Elle, Allure, Glamour, Vogue, Lucky and W. Anthony has also worked backstage with designers Zac Posen, Matthew Williamson, and Catherine Malandrino during New York Fashion Week. In 1979, Anthony completed his training in New York City at the Vidal Sassoon Academy. At the young age of 20, he utilized his entrepreneurial drive and opened his first salon. This year, Anthony DeFranco Salon and Spa is celebrating 20 years of business. His famous three-step method of strategic cutting is the salon’s platform for exceptional haircutting. Anthony’s approach to beauty is sexy, fresh and uncomplicated. He sees the world through creative, artistic eyes and his love for shape and color leads his passion.

Carley has been one of the greatest attributes to the industry for close to two decades. Her dedication to her clients is what has really driven her to continue her education and succeed as one of the Artistic Directors at the salon. Excelling in styling and cutting, Carley is known around the salon as the “queen of do’s.” Carley has an amazing eye for balance and shape. She has been published in several publications and her work appeared on the Life and Style talk show. Her clients gravitate to her for her understanding and creative nature, as well as her easygoing and approachable attitude. So whether it’s a great cut or a style for that very special day, let her vision guide you to looking your best.

Specializing in the artful creations of glamorous bridal up dos, Marianne’s touch has graced the heads of our salon brides for the past 10 years. Marianne saw her dreams become a reality by becoming an apprentice as soon as she graduated from high school. After several years of studying with various well-known stylists, she found her home at Anthony DeFranco Salon. Through the years she has continued her education, as well as educating up-and-coming stylists within the salon.

Amit Abraham always felt a strong passion and a deep appreciation for fine arts and style. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, he only later realized that his path would lead him to a successful career in fashion, specifically in hair design. He began his training in Israel, where he perfected his craft while having the opportunity to work with some of the top celebrities in the country. With over 15 years of experience in the industry, Amit has a special gift to see the entire picture, not just hair. He is best known for his strong and edgy signature cuts, always a perfectionist, always controversial. His admiration and perception of classic looks in past centuries has built a foundation in him to really understand style. Amit has worked his way up the ranks at L'Oréal Professionnel to the position of portfolio artist. As a regular at NY Fashion Week, he stays humble and true to his art. His philosophy is “change is life, when you cease to change you die!”

When I started my education back in 1986, I realized that becoming a hair stylist is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Between high school and cosmetology school, there was little time left for work in my crazy schedule, but I was determined to find a company in the industry that would work with me. I finally came across Peter’s Place, and my dreams were coming true! Peter’s Place was a high end salon that believed in consistently educating their staff. This is where my real training began. I was introduced to stylist Anthony DeFranco, who would eventually become my mentor and later my boss. I have continued to work with Anthony for the past 23 years. I have been to Canada for creative styling with Vidal Sassoon and to California for seminars with Paul Mitchell and Redken. Always keeping an eye open for new techniques and ventures, I came across the art of Hair Extensions. With Anthony’s assistance I was able to expand my skill base by attending seminars and workshops to master this incredible skill.

Straight out of beauty school, Jacqui came to Anthony DeFranco Salon and Spa and started in the apprentice program, training as Anthony’s personal assistant. She furthered her education by taking numerous workshops in Manhattan. In 2004 she worked with Anthony to develop and launch Anthony DeFranco’s product line “Dirty”. Her addiction is photo shoots and fashion shows. Her work has been seen in W, Lucky, Allure and Vogue magazines. Her passion is party hair and up do styles. She values perfection and strives to create a look that is just right for each individual client, whether it is the newest red carpet trend or a classic, timeless look.

With nine years of experience in the beauty industry and extensive work in makeup artistry through M.A.C. Cosmetics, Jet found her niche at Anthony DeFranco Salon. She comes forth and embraces those who sit in her chair with a genuine sense of empathy and eagerness to spark the confidence in all of us. Jet’s work has graced the pages of Woodbury Magazine, Rip the Runway Fashion Show, several indie films and your next-door neighbor. Not only does Jet know how to lead, but she also knows how to follow, allowing your own ideas to become reality.

silvia
Silvia is known for her unique trendy style, enduring persona and passion for the art of fashion. She was born and raised in El Salvador and came to the United States in 2001, facing a difficult language barrier. In one year's time she became fluent in English, the first of many accomplishments. Silvia obtained a position as an assistant at the salon and was trained under Anthony DeFranco himself, also receiving education from Brittany Beauty School, Redken and L'Oréal Professionnel. Her natural talent and driven personality helped Silvia quickly become one of the most requested hair stylists at the salon. Silvia has also worked on photo shoots for Woodbury Magazine and bridal parties featured in New York Magazine. Once you sit down in Silvia’s chair, you will always leave feeling confident and looking your best. This is not just a career to her, this is what she loves to do. “THE SKY IS THE LIMIT.”

I have always been intrigued by barbering… and hair. I love to create, which is why cutting hair comes naturally to me. As a freshman in high school, I started giving myself shape-ups. I then started to practice cutting on my friends’ hair. As I continued to get better and better, I started to gain a following. I attended The American Barber Institute, and became a licensed Master Barber. From there, I began to work in various salons, mastering different scissor techniques beyond barbering. Now, I combine the detailing of barbering, with the texturizing techniques of a stylist to create one-of-a-kind looks. I am also a shaving expert, trained in the "Art of Shaving," and can create all different beard shapes and designs. One haircut from me, and you'll never go back to your regular barber!
The Barber Shop will be open Wednesday – Sunday.

melissa
Melissa’s care and passion for making people look and feel their best has kept her firmly planted as a staple at the salon for over 17 years. She has grown in the company and now heads the Educational Team for the Color Department by mentoring and training up-and-coming new talent. Melissa is a Board Certified Haircolorist, and has traveled the United States for educational training. Her extensive L'Oréal Professionnel training keeps her up-to-date and able to change as quickly as fashion does.

Charles has specialized in hair color for many years. He is an evaluator for the American Board of Certified Haircolorists. He has studied in Italy, France and Greece, and is now an educator for Chromastics Haircolor. Charles prides himself on providing the best of the best color services, guaranteeing client satisfaction and making sure that his clients are provided with the proper education on how to best maintain their hair color.

Since the mid 80’s, Michelle has been in love with creating luxurious color. Influenced by some of the greatest colorists in the world, Michelle has been honing her craft for more than two decades. Her specialty has taken her to the art of “wearable hair”, excelling in highlights and “natural” color. She has helped thousands of clients look and feel amazing. Whether for a special occasion or for a general feel better about yourself pick me up, Michelle has the knack to make you the best you can be!

Jen had a passion for the hair industry since she was a little girl. Eager to start her career, she became licensed and started living her dream right out of high school. Jen started working at the salon in 1997, where she decided to specialize in hair color. She furthered her education by taking numerous classes throughout the United States. In 1999 at the age of 20, Jen became a Board Certified Haircolorist. Jen loves to share her talents and passions with others and became an educator for the future colorists with the apprentice program until 2008 when she started her family. Jen’s individuality shines through to each of her clients as she uses her creative eye to give each person their own personalized look, complimenting not only their features, but their lifestyles as well.

micki
Micki has been in the hair industry for over 14 years and with the salon for 10. She loves the rewards of being a colorist, enhancing one’s beauty with complementing hair color. Being a Board Certified Haircolorist, she has had extensive training by traveling to Florida, California and New York City to enhance her skills and further her education. Micki has experience in assisting platform artists at Haircolor USA, one of the nation’s foremost events for color education. Her hair coloring skills have been captured by photo shoots for salon advertisements and media. Aside from her extensive training in color, she is also a certified Japanese Straightener and Smooth Control Relaxer Specialist. Along with that knowledge comes her expertise in conditioning treatments using keratin and collagen to keep her work looking healthy and shiny.

erika
Erika is a Board Certified Hair colorist and has been captivating her clients with her artistic coloring techniques since 1996. Arriving on the scene at Anthony DeFranco Salon in 1999, Erika has been an asset to the Color Department. She has traveled to California, New Orleans and New York City for countless educational events and shows.

krys
Fashion forward, electrifying color is what motivates Krys at Anthony DeFranco Salon and Spa. Krys graduated from Long Island Beauty School in 2004. She traveled to California to further her education and follow her passion at the Energizing Summit for Hair Color. Krys has been working at the Salon for 3 years and trained under the Master Colorist. Eager to expand her craft, Krys is now specializing in Brazilian treatments. Krys gains inspiration from everyday colors and adds them to new trends and creativity.
